Once a vintage headboard, this chunky shelf is prime design as a one of a kind shelf. Certainly can continue use at the head of a twin bed but we love the thought of it suspended on the wall, or at least leaning against it. The niche creates a lovely Shadowbox effect for books or treasured objects
If using without a bed frame it needs to be attached to the wall as it will fall forward if not. There are pre drilled holes for use with a bed
