From Marie’s obituary: Marie (1928-2016) was a well-known award-winning water colorist and her work was widely exhibited, sought after by private and corporate collectors alike. She also owned her own gallery from 1966 to 1985, The North Fork Gallery, in Southold. Marie was a consummate artist in every sense. She was a prolific painter, fabric designer, decorator, and an inspired chef.
Marie is best remembered for her fearless approach to life and its challenges. In the early 1950s, when women were learning to stand up for themselves, she encouraged other women to be expressive and self-reliant, while balancing the demands of motherhood.
