A lovely rare find. Sculptural early 1970’s vase from listed Portland artist George Cummings.
The glaze was formulated by the late English potter Bryan Newman. It contains wood ash but not due to firing in a wood-burning kiln. Fired in a gas kiln.
George has two pieces in the Portland art museum collection.
